How to anonymise applicants

Modified on Mon, 2 Feb at 2:56 PM

In this guide, you will find out how to anonymise applicants.

In some countries, you must anonymise all candidates who apply for roles at your school. This will keep you Equal Opportunities compliant.

You can turn on anonymisation with a couple of clicks.

1. Click Edit school profile

Staff Management edit school profile

2. Under your banner image on the right-hand side, click preferences. This opens a pop-up.

3. Select yes

4. Press Save Preferences

Anonymisation is set at account level and applies to all applications you receive regardless of vacancy. Tes recommends you follow the local legal requirements for your school. All your applicants will be known as an animal and colour combination e.g. Armadillo Khaki.

If you are an international group or MAT, you can turn anonymisation on at individual schools.

Here is how anonymisation works based on your application type:

Schrole Connect: your applicants will be completely anonymised until they reach the shortlist stage. All identifying information including their profile picture will not be accessible until you choose to shortlist an applicant or invite them to interview.

Request a CV: Within the ATS, the applicant will be anonymised until you shortlist them. However, as you have requested their CV, you will be able to download their CV while they are in the Applicant and Longlist stages. As their CV is a document an applicant will have uploaded independent to Tes, we unfortunately cannot anonymise what is in their CV.

Upload your own application: Applicants will remain anonymised in the ATS until the Shortlist stage. However, as they are filling your own provided application form, we cannot apply anonymisation to any document they upload and identifying details may be visible.

Divert to your own website: If you opt to divert applicants to your own website, their data will not be stored in the ATS. You will need to make sure your school website is Equal Opportunities compliant.
